The case was heard at Longford District Court
A county Longford-based motorist has been charged with allegedly deceiving an insurance company by using a false no claims bonus certificate.
Mauricio Coutinho Oliveira (35) of Curreen View, Ballyclare, Lanesboro appeared at Longford District Court last week.
The defendant did not speak or indicate how he wishes to plea during the brief preliminary hearing.

Sergeant Enda Daly, court presenter, said Liberty Insurance reported suspected fraudulent activity on an insurance policy.
The court heard an investigation was carried out and Mr Oliveira was arrested and charged with two counts including 'using an RSA no claims bonus certificate, what was and which ‘he knew or believed to be a false instrument with the intention of inducing another person to accept it as genuine'.

The alleged offence is said to have occurred on a date unknown between December 2, 2021 and May 14, 2023 at Liberty Insurance, Dublin Road, county Cavan.
Mr Oliveira was remanded on continuing bail and the case was adjourned until October 21 next.
