The directors and staff of Longford’s Kiernan Steel are celebrating after they were the proud recipients of an ICE Award at a gala ceremony in the Convention Centre Dublin on Thursday, May 1.
Kiernan Steel were triumphant in the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Initiative category (Specialist or Specialist Services T/O Up to €60m) in recognition of their organisation of a Community Health & Awareness Day in memory of Andrew Jackson.
Founded in 1993 the Irish Construction Excellence Awards (ICE Awards) are the premier recognition of performance excellence for construction in Ireland.

Speaking on behalf of the Community Health & Awareness Day committee, Martina Brady, said, “We are incredibly proud to have won this ICE award.”
Ms Brady continued, “In 2024, we experienced a profound loss with the passing of our colleague Andrew, who tragically died by suicide.
In his memory, we held a special Community Health & Awareness Day last September at the Athletics Centre in Longford.

The event brought together over 800 people and welcomed a wide range of groups and individuals involved in mental health, fitness, and community engagement.
Thanks to the overwhelming support, we raised significant funds for Pieta and Longford Counselling Services.”
Martina said everyone at Kiernan Steel were immensely proud to win the prestigious ICE award.
She concluded, “A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the Community Day such a success, and to all the staff who consistently support every initiative we undertake.”
Directors Frank & Dolores Kiernan said winning the ICE Award is a tremendous honour for Kiernan Steel.
They stated, “From humble beginnings in a small shed at the back of our home to where we stand today in the Irish construction industry—this journey has been nothing short of phenomenal.
We couldn’t have reached this milestone without the unwavering support of our families and the dedication of our incredible staff.
“We are immensely proud of what our team has accomplished.
This award is a testament to their hard work, resilience, and commitment, and it has been won on behalf of everyone at Kiernan Steel.”
