Longford drug-driver who consumed substance was under a 'lot of stress', court hears

The case was heard at Longford District Court recently

A motorist who was caught with drugs in his system has been disqualified for a year.

Lukius Lukosius (28) of Lisbrack Down, Longford pleaded guilty to the offence at the local district court.

Sergeant Mark Mahon, court presenter, said Gardaí conducted a mandatory intoxicant checkpoint at Mullolagher, Longford on September 9, 2024 and the defendant was asked to undergo a roadside drug test that was positive.

He had no previous convictions.

Solicitor Frank Gearty said his client was under a lot of stress at the time of the incident.

The legal representative stated his client had consumed the cannabis prior to being stopped.

Judge Bernadette Owens imposed a €500 fine with six months to pay along with the driving ban.
