Defendant has motoring offence reduced after donating €10,000 to Jack and Jill Foundation
A Dublin dental surgeon facing a summons for dangerous driving had his offence reduced to one of careless driving after he made a charitable donation of €10,000 to the Jack and Jill foundation during Tullamore District Court on Wednesday June 4.
Before the court was Mohammed Shirin, 28, Stillorgan Grove, Stillorgan, Dublin.
On Sunday, August 11, 2024 he was clocked doing a speed of 184kph in a 100kph zone on the M6, Kilbeggan, Westmeath.

Barrister David Nugent said his client on the day was travelling to an emergency to perform an operation.
The defending solicitor Brian Duffy told the court that Mr Shirin had learned his lesson “and I doubt he will ever find himself in this situation again.
"Not only is he making a large donation to Jack and Jill, he also underwent a speed awareness course. He is taking this matter very seriously.”

Judge Andrew Cody said he would reduce the offence from dangerous driving to careless driving. He convicted and fined €750.
