The late Lucy Newman (née Halion), Kenagh, Co Longford
Sadly we record the death of local lady, Lucy Newman (née Halion), Kenagh, which occurred after a short stay in Mullingar hospital on Tuesday, June 3.
Lucy, who was in her ninety-fifth year, lived a long and healthy life in Kenagh village since she married her late husband Pat Newman in the mid nineteen fifties.
After she came to Kenagh she adapted to pub life very quickly where she proved herself to be a very popular and diligent lady in the pub business. She was a good listener and a good conversationalist.

Apart from life in the pub she was very much involved locally. She was instrumental in forming the youth band which was very successful in the parish some years back.
She was also an active member of the local branch of the ICA. In fact she attended her last ICA meeting just a month ago.
As a mark of appreciation, a guard of honour of local and neighbouring ICA ladies was formed at her removal.
