County Longford Historical Society’s next lecture will be given by Dr Jyoti Atwal

County Longford Historical Society’s next lecture will be given by Dr Jyoti Atwal of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, and it takes place in Teallach Íosa (The Family Centre), St Mel's Road, Longford, on Monday, June 16 at 8pm.


Dr Atwal will discuss historical links between Ireland and India, including Margaret Cousins, the Boyle woman who was a major campaigner for female suffrage in India.

Dr Atwal's areas of expertise include women’s history in colonial and post-colonial India. She is also her country’s leading scholar in Irish history.
