Motorist who was stopped at Longford Garda checkpoint had no insurance or licence
A motorist, who was caught driving with no insurance or licence, has been fined but has avoided a disqualification.
Slowomir Rogalski (51) of Moxham Street, Granard pleaded guilty at Longford District Court to the offence on April 22, 2025.
Sergeant Mark Mahon said Gardaí were carrying out a checkpoint on the Ballinalee Road, Longford at 8.30pm when they stopped the driver who had no licence or insurance.
The vehicle was subsequently seized.

The defendant had no previous convictions.
Solicitor Fiona Baxter said her client had a licence in his native Poland 20 years ago but he had not renewed it and he is trying to address matters.
"He came to Ireland in 2006 and he has never found himself before a court before,” she added.
Ms Baxter said Mr Rogalski, who is expecting a child with his partner, has a very good work history and he is working in Longford.
"To get to and from work he does avail of the Local Link bus service and he is using that service on a regular basis and he wants to assure the court that he will not drive again until he regularises his licence."
Ms Baxter said her client was asking for a chance and not to be disqualified.
Judge Bernadette Owens imposed a €450 fine with six months to pay.
