Longford’s local economy is poised for a massive boost with the creation of two hundred new jobs at Food Village’s €3 million state-of-the-art, 35,000sq ft facility at Mastertech Business Park.
Food Village (foodvillage.ie) is the most innovative and largest provider of tech-enabled secondary school meals in the country and Minister of State at the Department of Finance and TD for Longford-Westmeath, Robert Troy, will officially open the new facility today (Thursday, May 29) at 4pm.
Minister Troy will be joined by Food Village’s Founder and CEO, Richie Nangle, Business Partner and COO, Joe Kavanagh, and Chairman of Food Village’s Advisory Board, Frank Gleeson, along with a range of local representatives and employees, for the official opening ceremony.
This significant jobs announcement comes as part of Food Village’s investment of more than €3 million into their Longford facilities, as well as €1 million investment in the company’s impressive technology system and dedicated software team, all of which support their ambitious, national expansion plan to serve more than 100,000 secondary school students across the country.

In particular, thanks to Richie Nangle for his ongoing vision and commitment in this area. This is a significant jobs announcement for Longford, and I look forward to the continued growth of Food Village and their mission to provide school meals.”
