Ballymahon's Seán Mulledy is doing an Ironman in Lanzarote, Spain this Saturday, May 17 in memory of his mother Eilish who died from breast cancer in September 2009.

Longford Hospice Homecare is Seán’s chosen charity.

A huge challenge, the Ironman consists of a 3.8k swim, 180k cycle and a 42k marathon run.

Seán lost his mother to cancer when he was only seven years old.

The palliative care team were a huge support to Seán’s mother and family in Eilish’s final days.

Longford Hospice Homecare provide funding to the palliative care team in county Longford so Seán's dad Darren explained that 'it was a no brainer which charity Seán wanted to help raise funds for'.

Darren continued, "We set a target of raising €5,000. Since we set up Seán’s gofundme page last December, Seán has raised almost €7,500 to date from donations.  

"100% of funds raised will benefit so many families in county Longford who may need to avail of the palliative care services. Donations can be made by clicking the link HERE. Your support is very much appreciated."
