Longford District Court hears defendant was stopped by Garda on patrol in Killashee Street
A motorist who came to Garda attention because he had no tax and was found to have drugs in his system has been banned for one year.
Johnny O'Leary Camlin Meadows, Farneyhoogan, Longford pleaded guilty to the offence at the local district court.

Inspector David Jordan said Garda Rob Charman was on patrol in Killashee Street, Longford on April 25, 2022 when he observed a vehicle with no tax displayed.
Mr O'Leary was directed to undergo a roadside oral fluid drug test which came back positive.

The defendant was subsequently arrested and he provided a blood specimen which was also positive.
Mr O'Leary had two previous convictions.
Solicitor Bríd Mimnagh said her client, a married father of two, accepted he did wrong.
Judge Bernadette Owens also imposed a €500 fine with six months to pay.
