The Newtowncashel '25' card players group present a cheque for €4,500 to Geraldine Timlin and Sr Veronica Jones of Longford Hospice & Homecare Service
The Newtowcashel card players group, who meet every Monday night for their games of ‘partners 25’ in The Local Bar, Newtowncashel held a charity presentation night on Monday night April 28.
Throughout the winter in the weekly games, which included a Monster Christmas card drive, the group accumulated the weekly entry fees and prize money and donated the proceeds to the Longford Hospice Homecare Group. In this generous, thoughtful act of charity they secured a total of €4,500.
Committee members Sr Veronica Jones and Geraldine Timlin accepted the cheque on behalf of Longford Hospice.

Addressing the large attendance, Hospice Chairperson Sr Veronica sincerely thanked the Newtowncashel 25 card players group for such a great donation and explained how additional funding like this helps the organisation maintain their great services for family members and loved ones at end of life stage.
The card group, consisting of locals and players from neighbouring parishes wish to sincerely thank Fiona Lyster and all her staff at the Local Bar for looking after them so well every week and also to all the contractors and businesses in the local and surrounding areas for their generous donations and support during this fundraising event.
