Congratulations to Elaine O’Loughlin, daughter of Eileen and Gerard, Currow, Co Kerry, and David Donohoe, son of Bernie and the late J.P., Larkfield, who got married last Monday week in Albufeira, Portugal.

A large number of people from the area travelled out for the nuptials, with the football club well-represented in the hope of getting in some early-season warm-weather training on the Algarve.

The weather unfortunately didn’t quite live up to expectations but nonetheless the ceremony itself was able to be conducted outside in the Portuguese sunshine before a delicious meal and after-dinner celebrations took place indoors.

Neighbour and club stalwart Fr Simon Cadam travelled out to officiate at the ceremony.

Réidín Hickey and Sarah O’Loughlin were bridesmaids while Patrick Rogers and Paul Smyth acted as groomsmen for the occasion. David’s niece Niamh McElligott was flower-girl with Éabha Sheedy acting as M.C. for the day.

A great few days of celebration ensued and fortunately the groom had no cause to issue any yellow cards – never mind black or red – to the revellers.

All returned home in fine fettle after their escape to the sun and no doubt there will be no ill-effects on display this coming weekend in the league whether as players or as referee.
