RIP: Longford ICA members saddened by death of Federation President Margo Ward

The late Margaret (Margo) Ward, (née Whitney), Legan, Longford

It is with great sadness that we offer our sympathy to the family, friends and fellow ICA members of our friend, colleague and Federation President Margo Ward.

Margaret (Margo) Ward, (née Whitney), Legan, Longford passed away peacefully at her home in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, March 30 and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Margo was a great ICA lady and was a member of the Legan Guild.

Margo took part in every ICA event possible, she promoted ICA at every opportunity and there wasn't an ICA information table that she wasn't present at.

In April 2024 Margo took on the role of Longford Federation ICA President and it was so sad that she never got the chance to do any official Federation President duties.

Margo did hold a committee meeting in May and outlined some of her plans for the coming three years.

Sadly she fell ill and was unable to fulfill any of these plans, however in true Margo spirit she asked our vice president May to take over the reins in the hope that she would return in September, alas it was not to be.

Margo would have made a great President bringing her own style to the position, and with her committee behind her she would have brought Longford ICA to new heights.

As a mark of respect for Margo, all ICA activities were postponed for a week and Margo's fellow ICA members formed a guard of honour on her arrival in Legan church for her funeral mass on Wednesday, April 2 at St Mary's Church, Legan.

During Margo's funeral mass both Colm her husband and Fr Vinnie spoke of Margo's love of ICA, the president's chain was brought up as one of the symbols of Margo's life and to see all her ICA friends on one side of  the church just showed the depth of feeling we had for our dear friend. Rest easy Margo, your suffering is over we will miss you terribly.

May Margo rest in eternal peace.

Predeceased by her parents James and Margaret, Margo will be sadly missed by her loving husband Colm, daughters Louise and Sinead, her son Ciaran, sister Breda, brothers Patrick and Bernard, her much loved grandchildren Ruadhan and Caoimhe, son-in-law Martin, daughter-in-law Eileen, brother-in-law TJ, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
