Spring has certainly sprung in Granard, especially for one farmer in particular, John Kiernan.
Last week saw one of John’s Ewe’s deliver four lambs. This is a very rare occurrence indeed but to make it even more exciting, this is the second year in a row that the same Ewe has delivered quadruplets.
Speaking on his sheep's success John said, “At the minute they’re alive and well,” he explained.
“When the vet took the first one out I knew there was a lot more to come.
“There’s no issue at all with them. She reared four last year, they did a supplement for the first week and then she reared them after that.”
John has high hopes that she will rear this litter as well.
The quads were delivered by Brown’s Cross Vetrinary, the vet himself had come from Greece and started at the clinic a few months ago.
