A Longford resident who was caught drink driving and driving without insurance has received a one year disqualification.
Tatenda Chinyemba of Canal Close, Longford, pleaded guilty at the local district court to driving without insurance and drink driving.
The court heard previously that Gardaí were on mobile patrol at Lisbrack Road, Longford on July 4, 2024.
The defendant, who was driving on a provisional licence, was arrested on suspicion of being intoxicated.
A subsequent blood test gave a reading of 36mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.
The legal limit is 35mg.
A demand was made for Mr Chinyemba to produce his insurance policy within 10 days, however, he failed to do so.
Sergeant Mahon said the accused had not come to any Garda attention since the incident.
The defendant had no previous convictions.
Solicitor Bríd Mimnagh said her client has just one family member in the country, a sibling in county Cavan, and he is currently seeking employment but out of work.
Judge Bernadette Owens convicted the defendant and imposed the driving ban along with an €800 fine with 11 months to pay.
