A derelict north Longford cottage sold at auction following an intense bidding war. The two bedroom cottage at Ferskill, Coolarty, Granard had a listed AMV (advised minimum value) of €25,000 however it was sold to the highest bidder for €56,000 at an online auction hosted by BRG Gibson Auctioneers. The Longford cottage was one of six CAB seized properties that went under the hammer at Thursday's online auction.
There were four potential buyers for the property and 32 bids were lodged.
Describing the property, which is located 4 kms from Granard, as one with 'ample potential for refurbishment or redevelopment', BRG Gibson Auctioneers said it extends to approximately 60 sqm set on a site of c. 0.26 hectares / 0.64 acres.

The auctioneers advise, "While the property will need complete renovation prior to occupation or alternatively potential for a replacement dwelling subject to planning. The current structure comprises entrance, kitchen with living area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. There is also a modest outbuilding attached to the cottage."
