A man prosecuted for drug driving has been fined and disqualified from driving for one year.
Rory McGrinder (30), 1 Curragh Lane, Lifford, Co Donegal pleaded guilty at Longford District Court last week to the offence on August 3, 2021.
Sergeant Enda Daly said Garda Trevor Owens of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit carried out a speed check a vehicle was detected driving at 125km per hour in a 100kph zone on the N55 at Tullygullin, Cavan.
"The driver was followed into county Longford and stopped at Ballinruddy, Granard.
"The driver's details were given as the defendant's and an oral fluid test was carried out and he tested positive for cannabis," Sgt Daly added.
Mr McGrinder was arrested and brought to Granard Garda Station where a blood specimen was obtained by a doctor and the result was positive for cannabis and it exceeded the drug-driving limit.

The defendant had six previous convictions.
Solicitor John Quinn said his client is working full-time and he cooperated fully with the Gardaí and he regrets the incident.
Judge Bernadette Owens imposed the driving ban and she fined Mr McGrinder €500 with six months to pay.
