A county Longford mother of six who was caught drink driving has been convicted and given a three year disqualification.
Jennifer Teague (33) of 29 Bracklin Park, Edgeworthstown, pleaded guilty at Longford District Court to the offence at Bracklin Park on February 8, 2024 shortly after 1am.
Sergeant Enda Daly said Sergeant Kieran Madigan observed a vehicle being driven erratically at the location and he stopped the vehicle and he spoke to the defendant.
Ms Teague's speech was described as being slurred, her eyes were glassy, she was also unsteady on her feet and there was a smell of alcohol emanating from her breath.
Sgt Daly said Sgt Madigan requested the defendant's driving licence, however, the provisional licence holder did not have it in her possession.
Ms Teague was asked to carry out a roadside breathalyser test, but she was unable to comply and provide a sample.
The defendant was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and a urine sample later revealed a reading of 207 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of urine.
The legal limit is 67mg.
Ms Teague had no previous convictions.
Solicitor Frank Gearty stated his client had been dealing with some personal difficulties at the time.
"It was snowing on the night and she had had several glasses of wine and she did not expect to be going out but then she got a call from a friend and she was asked to pick them up in town," he added.
Mr Gearty said Ms Teague "does acknowledge her wrongdoing and she is otherwise of excellent character".
Judge Bernadette Owens imposed the mandatory driving ban and a €400 fine with six months to pay.
