Longford District Court hears defendant had 'row with a friend' and he regretted his actions
A Longford resident, who had to be restrained with pepper spray, has been directed to make a contribution to a local organisation.
Maksims Sivijs (28) of Pairc na Habhainn, Edgeworthstown pleaded guilty at Longford District Court to the offence at Greville Court, Granard on November 29, 2024.

Sergeant Enda Daly said Gardaí received reports that a man was banging on a door in the area shortly before 12-midnight.
The court presenter said when officers arrived they observed a drunk man on the road who refused to give his details to them and he became 'aggressive'.

Sgt Daly said pepper spray had to used and the man also had to be handcuffed before being arrested.
Mr Sivijs had nine previous convictions.
Solicitor Bríd Mimnagh, defending, said her client had a 'row' with a friend and he regretted his actions.

"He had too much to drink," she added.
Ms Mimnagh said Mr Sivijs works full time and he earns the minimum wage.
Judge Bernadette Owens directed him to pay €500 to Longford Women's Link and indicated she would then strike out the case before adjourned it until July 15.
