Many people in Longford are supporting social media star Kayleigh Trappe as she burns up the dancefloor on RTÉ's Dancing with the Stars.

In Sunday's live show, the nine remaining couples danced to some of the greatest hits the Eurovision has ever produced, hoping to impress the judges and public.

Kayleigh Trappe and, her partner Ervinas Merfeldas danced the Samba to the 2018 contest runner-up from Cyprus, Fuego by Eleni Foureira, with judge Karen Byrne being exceptionally impressed. “You were on fire! The attitude! The energy! The fact that there’s a dance off tonight – it’s like you’re saying give me this… I want more!”

Head judge Loraine Barry was also highly complimentary of Kayleigh's display. “There is a fire in your belly. You went for it tonight. You absolutely nailed it.”

County Monaghan girl Kayleigh is granddaughter of Philip Trappe, formerly of Soran, Ballinalee, who worked as an agricultural advisor in Monaghan and she has many relatives around county Longford. And here's hoping Kayleigh continues to light up the dancefloor.

Sunday's show saw meteorologist Joanna Donnelly become the third celebrity to be eliminated from Dancing with the Stars.
