Longford man must enter peace bond following dispute that 'just got out of hand'

The defendant faced a charge that he engaged in threatening and abusive behaviour

A man in breach of the public order entered a peace bond at last week's District Court sitting.

Sean Flynn (55) of Ballymahon Road, Edgeworthstown, Longford was before Judge Bernadette Owens facing a charge that on December 27, 2023 at Mostrim Oaks, Ballymahon Road, Edgeworthstown he engaged in threatening and abusive behaviour.


The matter arose from a dispute between neighbours. Officers attending at the scene found the defendant shouting abuse at another person.

When Mr Flynn refused to calm down he was arrested at his neighbours front door. Once arrested he calmed down and apologised for his behaviour.

Previously the judge had adjourned the case to see if any other issues arose.


Sergeant Enda Daly said Mr Flynn had not come to Garda attention since the matter was last before the court.

The prosecuting officer said there charges before the court arose form a dispute between a number of people that it “just got out of hand”.


Judge Owens directed that the defendant enter a peace bond for €200 for a period of 12 month.
