The resurfacing works will start at Newtownforbes village and continue for approximately 4kms west of Newtownforbes to the Rinn River Bridge.
Last April the local authority indicated they were reducing the speed limits on the edge of the village to facilitate the N4 Newtownforbes to Clooniher pavement rehabilitation scheme.
Shortly after Longford MD Councillor Gerry Hagan tabled a motion calling on Longford MD to carry out resurfacing works and reinstatement of road markings on the Newtownforbes to Rooskey Road at Ballagh Bridge.
The works commenced on Monday (January 27) with a finish date estimated as Friday, April 4. The work will take place between 8am and 5pm.

The works will be carried out under a stop/go traffic management system, which will be in place for the duration of the works.
There will be a special roadworks speed limit of 60km/h.
The scheme involves the road reconstruction and resurfacing; road markings and studs installation; and the ancillary accommodation works.
The local authority said: “The nature of these works often means some disturbance is unavoidable, but please be assured that every effort will be made to minimise any unnecessary disruption during these works.
“If you have any additional queries or issues regarding the works in your area during this period, Longford County Council Roads section may be contacted at 043 334 3341.”
