Need a shower, a warm cuppa, to charge your phone or WiFi to work? Longford Storm Éowyn emergency response hubs open

Local authorities are coordinating a local level humanitarian assistance response to the needs of people who have been significantly impacted by Storm Éowyn.

ESB

Report fallen wires immediately by calling the ESB Emergency Services on 1800 372 999. The public can monitor PowerCheck.ie for power restoration times.

Water

Uisce Éireann customers can check Water.ie and follow Uisce Éireann on social media for updates. To get in touch with any issues or concerns via Uisce Éireann 24/7 customer care centre at 1800 278 278. The public can also sign up online to their free text alert system to get regular updates about their local supplies via Water.ie.

Fallen Trees

You can report fallen trees blocking roads to Longford County Council on 043 334 33 41 or on our out-of-hours number on 1800 211 525

Alternative water supplies

Alternative water supplies remain in place at the following locations: 

 

  • Cathedral carpark, Longford Town
  • Tesco carpark, Longford Town
  • Library carpark, Edgeworthstown
  • The Mart, Ballymahon, 
  • The village carpark, Aughnacliffe, 
  • Carpark behind Garda Station, Granard
  • Carpark beside the Bridge, Lanesboro

Emergency Response Hubs 

Emergency Response Hubs are open at four Longford County Council Libraries

Balllymahon, Lanesboro, Granard and Longford libraries

  • All have electricity and water
  • Charge your phones and other devices
  • Connect to WIFI
  • Study desks and hot desking facilities
  • Hot water, tea and coffee are available
  • Toilet facilities

Edgeworthstown Library

  • Has electricity but no water currently
  • Charge your phones and other devices
  • Connect to WIFI
  • Study desks and hot desking facilities
  • There is no toilet access currently

Drumlish Library 

To be open as an Emergency Response Hub from Thursday, January 30.

There are also facilities available at the following locations:

Bridgeways Family Resource Centre, Ballymahon 

  • Phone and laptop charging points available
  • Tea and coffee making facilities
  • Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Free shower facilities and charging for phones between 4pm and 6pm each day.
