Further adjournment in Longford violent disorder case

Solicitors for a man charged in connection with an incident of violent disorder in Longford town last October has voiced his dissatisfaction with the progress of the case.

Martin Keenan (34) 81 Ardnacassa Avenue Longford was before Judge Bernadette Owens charged with the production of an article, a shovel, while committing violent disorder and assault in respect of an incident on October 10.
The defendant appeared via videolink. Sergeant Enda Daly said the senior officer in the investigation is off work and the file has not yet been sent to the DPP.

Solicitor Brid Mimnagh said her client was anxious to have the matter moved forward, adding that he has been in custody since the end of last year.

Judge Owens said she would mark the file as “time passing” in a bid to put pressure on the State to have specified a direction. The judge then adjourned the matter to February 4, 2015.
