Pitch and Pulse Piano Christmas Concert took place in St John's Church, Longford on Monday, December 23, with the support of Camlin Keys Festival, students were able to perform their pieces on the fabulous grand piano.
Joanna Pearman explained, “Our young pianists, from recent beginners to Grade 8 pianists, treated the audience to Christmas classics including Jingle Bells, Fairytale of New York and Rudolph, as well as, exam pieces together with own choice pieces such as Maple Leaf Rag, Que nadie sepa mi sufrir and Pure Imagination an abridged video of the concert is available online.
“Once again there was a brief guitar interlude with Feliz Navidad and Blue Suede Shoes.
“The evening closed with a memorable Last Rose of Summer on the flute, and two performances on St John's fabulous organ. Dating from the 1800s, the organ still has many of the original mechanisms in place.
Anna, who is studying the organ in the RIAM, played the Trumpet Voluntary, John Bennett and Senan played Angels we have heard on high.
"Having the annual concert enables all the students to share their work, giving the newer students an idea of where they can be next year, seeing how much they all progress over the year," said Joanna Pearman of Pitch & Pulse.
Noreen Grant, parent to three of Joanna's students, observed, "I think it's underestimated what the performance and concert does for their confidence, it really helps. It must be nearly ten years since Joanna started out in the little piano room!"
The Christmas Concert was in conjunction with Camlin Keys, Grand Christmas at the Piano, part of the Camlin Keys Festival.
Pitch & Pulse students are looking forward to the Camlin Keys Festival 2025, due to take place over the May Bank Holiday, with plenty of workshops, concerts and performances to attend.
