A young man who pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis was fined €200 at Longford District court.
Noah Comer (19) of 4 Quarry View, Ballybride, Roscommon was before Judge Bernadette Owens on a single charge of possession of cannabis.
Outlining details of the case Sergeant Mark Mahon said that on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 10:00pm officers on patrol on the New Street area of Longford town stopped and searched the defendant.

Mr Comer was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis to the value of €20 which he said was for his own personal use.
The defendant had one previous conviction for cannabis possession. The defendant's solicitor said Mr Comer was going through a difficult period at the time, but has turned his life around.
He is now in full time employment and has given up using cannabis.

Taking the facts of the case into consideration judge Owens imposed a fine of €200 and gave the defendant four months to pay.
