Planners give go ahead for construction of significant Longford housing development

Longford County Council have granted planning permission for the construction of 39 houses at Corry, Newtownforbes.


Watters Construction & Rental Ltd submitted plans with the local authority in December 2023 for the proposed construction of 39 houses consisting of 22 semi-detached two storey, four semi detached single storey, one detached single storey, one detached two storey and eleven detached two storey dwellings.

The development will also include the provision of a new entrance and access road; green open space, boundary fences /walls with internal pedestrian pathway; connection to public services with sewer and water supply and all associated ancillary site works.

There were nine submissions made on the plan by January 19, 2024. The planners initially expected to announce their decision by February 9, 2024, however further information in respect of the plans was submitted in February and July of this year.

Submissions from private individuals objecting to the proposed development included issues with title, zoning, archaeology, loss of privacy, and traffic consideration. The local authority planners granted approval subject to 16 conditions.
