Sadness in Cavan and Longford following death of talented carpenter and obliging neighbour

Patrick (Packie) Mulligan, Mullahoran, Kilcogy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10 last at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda having been ill for a short time.

Packie was a favourite around the Mullahoran area with a happy demeanour and a welcome smile for all and his passing has left a great void among his family and friends and neighbours.

At a young age he emigrated to England where he worked hard and later returned home and along with his wife Josie set up home in his native Mullahoran.

Born in 1937 Packie was a quiet and hardworking man, he was a very talented carpenter and tradesman and a very obliging neighbour.

He had a quick wit and could tell a good story and he enjoyed the chat in the local Glan Bar when he visited with his late wife Josie who passed away just a few years ago.

He was also predeceased by his sister Annie, brothers John and Seamus and is sadly missed by his son John, daughters Vera Clarke (Lisryan) and Sheila Smith Mulligan (Redhills), sister Maura (U.S,A) brother Benny (Birmingham) daughter-in-law Anne, son-in-law Anthony, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

His remains reposed at the home of his son John and Anne’s home on Wednesday evening, December 11 and his funeral followed requiem mass in Our Lady of Lourdes church, Mullahoran on Thursday to local cemetery. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
