An Edgeworthstown Library Poster Exhibition on issues affecting communities was launched at Edgeworthstown Library last Friday.

The event is entitled 'Cultur Poster Exhibition -Voices of Experience' and the organisers had stated 'Every voice matters, every story shapes our collective journey'.

The exhibition was launched at 6pm on November 22 and it will run until the end of December.

Siobhán Masterson of Longford Community Resouces told the Longford Leader about how it went.

“The event brought together community members, service providers and local leaders to address 10 critical issues affecting migrant and local communities.

“The exhibition stems from a 2022 consultation facilitated by Cultúr Migrant Community Development Project.
“This process involved migrant leaders from diverse backgrounds and mainstream service providers, who aimed to identify key challenges impacting local communities.

Siobhán was kind enough to provide us with a quote from an attendee who said, “Events like this are important to give a platform to marginalised voices ensuring that their concerns are heard and acted upon.”

“There were 10 issues identified in the posters, one representing each issue but there were also a few posters explaining migration and explaining what an asylum seeker is and a refugee is.

“I think there were 16 or 17 in total.

The posters themselves, will be on display in Edgeworthstown Library until the 20 December.

“This event is about starting a discussion that is not divisive but rather about improving our communities and reimagining a better future for all,” concluded Siobhán.
