Man accused of Longford assault to face Circuit Court trial

A defendant facing two assault charges will have the case against him heard in the Circuit Court.
Lukasz Zdybel (39) of 29 Ard Michael, Longford faces charges that on April 20, 2024 at Ard Michael, Ballinalee Road, Longford he committed Section 3 and Section 3.a non-fatal assaults.


Mr Zdybel was sent forward for trial in the Circuit Court by Judge Bernadette Owens at last week's sitting of Longford District Court.
Garda Eamon Fitzpatrick told the judge he served the Book of Evidence on the defendant on the morning of the court sitting.
Sergeant Enda Daly told Judge Owens the Director Of Public Prosecution was seeking to have Mr Zdybel returned for trial at the next sitting of Longford Circuit Court on the two charges.


Judge Owens issued the defendant with an alibi warning informing that if he wished to rely on an alibi he must inform the State within 14 days.
Legal aid was granted in the name of his solicitor, Fiona Baxter, and one counsel. The judge also issued a certificate for a Polish interpreter.
