It was truly the end of an era in Lanesboro last Friday as Claire Murphy's association of over 40 years with Lanesboro Primary School concluded with her retirement.
Formerly known as ‘the Girls National School’, Claire, spent 9 years there as a pupil and 32 years as a teacher, of which 21 were spent as principal.
Claire officially retired from the school at a school mass and presentation in St Mary’s Church.
Claire is a daughter of the late Tony and Tess Murphy, 1 The Green, has shown a tremendous dedication and loyalty to the school over the years.
She has been a very popular and respected teacher and principle for the duration of her 32 years of teaching. Claire had great foresight and she initiated and oversaw many great developments and progressions in the school.
Many tributes were paid to Claire at the presentation, all of which were undoubtedly very well deserved.
We would like to wish Claire a very happy, healthy and long life as she joins her husband Ronan Glennon in retirement.
Congratulations Claire and thank you for everything over all the 32 years.
