Tributes paid to former Chairman of The Longford Association in London

Members of Longford County Council offered condolences to the family of Michael McGann (pictured) who passed away in London earlier this month at the September meeting of the local authority.


For many years Michael was the Chairman of The Longford Association in London. The Longford Association in London is a network of Longford people in the English capital who retain strong links with home by host various social activities throughout the year including a golf day, dinner and dance, and many other informal meet-ups.


Michael died peacefully at Charing Cross Hospital at the end of September. His funeral took place on September 24 at St Bridget's Catholic Church, Isleworth with removal to South West Middlesex crematorium.


Cllr Martin Skelly led the tributes to the McGann family saying: “Michael made a massive contribution to the Longford diaspora in London. He was a tireless worker for his community. He made lasting impression on all who met him, and was a great ambassador for Longford.


Councillors were unanimous in offering their condolences to the McGann family.
