CAB investigating activities of over 80 'targets' across Longford / Roscommon garda division
The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) is actively investigating over eighty targets across the Longford / Roscommon garda division.
Minister for Justice Helen McEntee previously said, “CAB hits criminals where it hurts – in their pockets – by targeting the ill-gotten gains of criminal conduct."
And the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) 2022 annual report, similar to the 2021 report, showed that there are 82 targets on the CAB radar in Longford / Roscommon.
In an interview with the Irish Independent, Detective Chief Superintendent Michael Gubbins of CAB revealed the number of 'targets' under investigation across the Longford / Roscommon garda division is 81.
The 2020 CAB annual report showed that there were 66 Longford / Roscommon 'targets' and the increased number of targets highlights how CAB have intensified their profiling of the region.

The number of criminals under investigation in Longford / Roscommon is significantly higher than in Sligo / Leitrim where there are now understood to be ten targets on CAB's radar, while there are three in Mayo, 25 in Donegal and 21 in Cavan / Monaghan.
Minister McEntee stressed that, “CAB has been a vital tool in our arsenal in the fight against organised crime."
CAB say targets are identified in a number of ways which include its own intelligence, information from specialist garda units, the network of more than 500 garda divisional profilers nationwide and “good citizen reports” which are described as anonymous tip-offs from the public.
