Ballinamuck is preparing for Pride of Place judges visiting on August 28
Volunteers in communities across Longford are making final preparations as the judging for the 2024 IPB Pride of Place awards is set to take place.
The Pride of Place awards are held annually with over 100 communities across the island of Ireland shortlisted for their voluntary efforts in making their communities a better place and IPB continues to be the key sponsor of this important community event.
The awards acknowledge the work done every day by communities all over Ireland. Local community groups can put themselves forward for a local authority nomination.
Nominated groups will be able to demonstrate pride in their place. This will include presenting community activities and culture in a tour of the area for competition judges. The community will also show the partnership between local authorities and all of the local community.
A social media post by Ballinamuck Enhancement note that the Pride of Place judges are visiting on August 28 and the community are showcasing what was achieved as a community at the Battle of Ballinamuck 225th commemoration last September.
The post says: “So some tidying up around the village and historic sites started this evening. As the judges will be taking a tour around along with a presentation in the hall.
“So make sure everyone has August 28 in their diary 9am to 1pm all the community is invited to attend.”
