Participants in the Mary’s Meals Ireland, Step by Step 12th National Walk to Knock received a very warm welcome when they arrived in Longford town on Sunday, August 11. Read more below photo.

Members of Longford Pipe Band, along with Deputy Joe Flaherty and members of the Longford branch of Mary’s Meals welcomed the group to Pig Market Lane for a reception sponsored by Herterichs Butchers.


This sponsored walk is to raise vital funds to help feed hungry children in some of the world's poorest communities.

Members of the Longford branch of Mary’s Meals also joined the walkers on Monday morning, August 12 as they departed from St Mel’s Cathedral at 8.30am to continue on their journey.

Some local members have also been participating in a nine day 5km local walk which commenced last Wednesday evening, August 7 at 7.30pm from St John's Church, Battery Road, Longford.
