Longford woman jailed after pleading guilty to fraud and theft charges

A woman already serving a prison sentence received a further two month sentence at last week’s sitting of Longford District Court.
Shannon Kavanagh, with an address at Bethany House, Longford, was charged with a Section 6 public order offence.
The offence occurred in the grounds of Newtownforbes Church at 1.30 am on April 21, 2023.

Gardaí came to the scene to find a male and female fighting. Both of them were covered in blood.
The female defendant attempted to kick the male.
Ms Kavanagh was pepper sprayed by gardaí and subsequently arrested.

Her solicitor, Frank Gearty, told the court that “this is a matter of great disgust to my client.”
He added that in custody, “my client is thriving. She is determined to make progress.”
Judge Owens sentenced Ms Kavanagh to a further two month prison sentence, to run concurrently with a sentence she is already serving.
