It was a Crazy World for 11 year old Corey Hughes as the talented young singer got to perform with his idols last week.
“He's good at singing,” Corey's father Paul told the Leader, “he sent some of the videos he has on YouTube to the manager of Aslan, Denise Mc Cormick. Denise saw a video of Corey on the Longford South Community Games Facebook page.
“She contacted me and offered to surprise Corey by inviting myself, my wife Regina and Corey to their rehearsals in Camelot Studios in Tyrrelstown in Dublin,” Paul said of the adventure.
While in the studio Corey was invited to sing 'Crazy World' with the band. He also met the new member of the band replacing Christy Dignam, Lee Tompkins.
“They gave him advice on his music career and what to do in the future. We made some great friends and will continue to be in contact with our new friends,” Paul said of the experience.
Corey's experience was a unique one: “Aslan has never done this for anyone else in the 40 years they have been together so it was a great opportunity. Not only did he get to play live and got his t-shirts and CDs signed by them.
Paul says his son will be forever grateful for the experience: “We would like to thank the band and Manager Denise Mc Cormick for hosting us and making Corey's dream come true. We are still in awe.”
He said he hopes this is just the first step for his son on his musical journey: “We are very proud of Corey as is his six year old brother Mark who looks up to him all the time.
Corey wants to make it big in the music industry and will continue to chase his dream until it happens.”
