Sammy Copley and Killian Sundermann  set to shine in Longford showcase at PVs Red Room

Sammy Copley plays The Red Room at PVs on Friday June 7 at 7pm as part of the First Fridays, Lasta Festival presented by as part of the Backstage Young Curators programme

Interest in the June First Friday is building as an exciting programme of music and amusement aims to breathe new life into the Longford night time entertainment scene.


The June First Friday has been exclusively programmed by the three Backstage Young Curators (Emer Tyrrell, Daire O'Muiri and Setanta Flood) as part of Lasta Festival - a nationwide festival of arts, curated by young people for young people.


The First Fridays programme of late night music, comedy, dance and public art, on the First Friday of every month is bringing diverse entertainment to Longford Town. The programme runs from April to September and is brought to you by Backstage Theatre in partnership with Longford County Council, with funding support from the Arts Council and Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

One to look forward to is singer/songwriter Sammy Copley has grown up in a self-made spotlight. Inadvertently documenting his growth as a storyteller and a performer through weekly uploads to YouTube, his channel has almost a quarter of a million subscribers, in 2021 he independently released his first full-length body of work, the majestic Growing Pains.


Citing influences such as James Taylor, Janis Ian, Paul Simon, Carole King, and Joni Mitchell the young artist pours emotion into his soothing folk-inflected ballads.


With millions of streams, sold-out headline shows in Dublin and London, he has amassed a great reputation as a live performer.


Copley has featured on Kojaque and Ezra Williams’ IMRO award-nominated albums, and collaborated with acclaimed Canadian artist Dan Mangan on the single ‘You’.

Tickets are €10 and can be pre booked or bought on the door.

On the same day viral Irish comedian Killian Sundermann is the comedy headliner for the June Longford First Friday.


Killian rose to prominence with his hugely popular viral sketches which catapulted him to prominence as one of the most exciting young acts to come out of Ireland in recent years, with a staggering over 488K followers across TikTok and Instagram.

He has performed and written for several TV Shows and Internet Series, including Callans Kicks The Years, No Worries If Not, GUTF. Killian has also made an impact on the live comedy scene with solo performances at All Together Now Festival, Paddy Power Comedy Festival and Otherside festival.


Killian Sundermann will play PVs Red Room on Friday, June 7 and be supported by Sophia Cadogan with MC Sinead Quinlan.

Tickets are €15 and on sale now at www.backstage.ie


Other acts on the night will include local acts Jousca and Homeowners and local DJ Collective Re-Jen Collective.
