Two local girls have set their sights high to raise much needed funds for charity.

Rachael Stewart and Laura Dooner will do a sky dive in February to fundraise for Newtownforbes-based charity “Hungry Horse Outside”.

Rachael has decided to battle her fear of heights in order to help the animals; “Myself and my housemate Laura Dooner are both horse mad. Since last year on and off I’ve been helping out at a horse rescue in Newtownforbes and have seen first-hand the shocking state that some people let their horses get into, the careless breeding and also the amount of horses just abandoned because people can no longer look after them. So I wanted to do something to help but because I live in Dublin I can’t take any on or foster any and my time to help is limited at the weekends so I needed to come up with some way of fundraising.”

As the charity is close to her heart, Rachael decided that she would do all she could to help the cause and is therefore going to sky dive from 10,000ft.

Hungry Horse Outside has been up and running for a number of years. Established in 2011, they rescue horses, ponies and donkeys primarily from the midlands. It is run by a small group of volunteers who aim to help the plight of hungry, neglected and abused animals.

If you wish to support the girls and donate to the cause you can email Rachael on monaview@googlemail.com.
