We would like to wish all our members a very happy 2011 and hope that everyone enjoyed the festive season, despite the difficult weather conditions. Our first meeting of the year will take place on Thursday, Jan. 27th at 2.30pm in Rath Mhuire Centre. We will be planning our activities for the coming months so we would ask that all members make every effort to attend. Looking forward to seeing everybody on the 27th. Granard Area Action Group are holding a fundraising Quiz in Fay's on Friday night January 28th at 9.15pm. Support would be appreciated.

Sponsored walk

A Sponsored walk from Granard to Abbeylara and back will be held on Sunday March 13th at 3.00pm with all proceeds collected going to the Stroke Unit, the Irish Heart Foundation, Dublin. Sponsorship cards will be available soon. More details later.

Congratulations to Ril g, a group of talented young people from north Longford who launched their CD.''Off Da Wall''in the Breffni Arms,Arva on Saturday night last. These young people trained by well known musician Padraig Lynch, are a credit to their parents and Co Longford. We hope to hear more of them in the future.

The Charity Match in aid of the Noel O'Connor fund will take place in Abbeylara Pitch on Sunday next January 30th at 2.00pm with all proceeds going to Longford Hospice. As Noel was a great supporter of the GAA it is hoped there will be a good turnout. This match was due to take place earlier but due to the inclement weather had to be postponed.

Cnoc Mhuire

On Wednesday January 26th at 7.00pm a brief presentation on Cnoc Mhuire will take place at 7.00pm. Enrolment on Saturday morning January 29th for the school year 2011---2012. This will be held in the school Gym from 10.00am to 12,00am. For more details contact 043--6686231.
