A man in his 30’s lost his life following a road traffic collision in Longford last night.
The tragic accident involving a car and a minibus occurred at Corboy, Edgeworthstown on the main Dublin to Longford N4 road at approximately 11.10pm (Saturday, May 16).
The 36-year-old driver of the car sustained serious injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the morgue at the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar.
A number of ambulances attended the scene and they administered medical attention to the 14 young passengers and two adult passengers that were travelling on the bus involved in the collision.
The bus driver was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital, Mullingar where his injuries are described as non life threatening.
The road remains closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision Examination and diversions are in place.
