Accident and Emergency Services at Mullingar General Hospital went off-call earlier today (Monday, July 11). Services are expected to resume later this evening and in the interim incoming ambulance patients are being referred to neighbouring hospitals.
The announcement comes in the wake of the closure of Roscommon County Hospital A&E services at 8am this morning. However a spokesperson for the HSE has confirmed that the two events are unrelated.
“There were a number of outdoor events in and around Mullingar over the weekend and that led to situation,” said the HSE. “This has nothing to do with the closure of services at Roscommon County Hospital.”
