Congratulations to Rachael and Mark Bermingham, Forthill, on the birth last week of their new baby girl.


Cirde Beag Pre-School and Childminding Facility, Carrowbeg, held an open day on Saturday, December 11th, which was very well attended by people of all ages. Even Santa Claus popped in to see and spent a while chatting to the children in his grotto. Cirde Beag would like to thank everyone for their support; it was great to get so many good wishes. The Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland is being organised again for the 20th year. As a result of this event approximately 147,000 euro has been raised for Multiple Sclerosis. All are welcome, walkers start from the Hill at 11.45 am and runners at 12.15, finish at the Hall in Lanesborough where refreshments are available. Rehearsals for the Christmas Day Children's Mass will continue this Saturday evening, December 11th, from 5.30 – 7.00pm in the Church. All children wishing to participate are invited! It's not too late to come along and join in!


Our next rehearsal for Christmas will take place on Friday evening, December 17th, in the church at 8.30pm. All members please, and new members will be very welcome.


The Village shop has re-opened uin new ownership and under new management. We wish the very best of luck to Laura and Karl Dermody who will trade as L and K. All efforts are being made to recover An Post facilities and restore those services to Newtowncashel. Opening hours: Sunday 9.00am to 12.00 noon, Monday to Friday 8.00am to 8.00pm, Saturday 9.00am to 9.00pm.


Collection envelopes for 2011 are being distributed by members of the Parish Pastoral Council. We thank them and all who help in the process. Anyone who has been omitted but wishes to receive these envelopes should contact the parochial House.
