This young man is to be named Bernard Michael and he is a welcome brother for Daniel and grandson for Joe and Mrs.Fahy Ballymahon.Glad to report that both mother and baby are doing well and we understand that Dad is coping well also and is looking forward to a few restless nights.We also congratulate Derek on his election to high office during the week and have no doubt that he will do a great job.



Congratulations to Lynda Smyth who was a winner in the Longford Shopping Centre Christmas card competition.Lynda's unique design has been produced as a Christmas card and is available for sale, all proceeds of the card go to the Simon Community. In addition to this Lynda won a 100 euro voucher for herself and a 500 euro voucher for the school. Lynda is a sixth class student in St. Guasacht's N.S, Bunlahy and a daughter of Seamus and Noeleen Smyth. Well done Lynda!


Congratulations to Elaine Walshe Carrickduff, daughter of Frank and Anna Mai, and Fergal O'Boyle from Crossmolina Co.Mayo who announced their engagement recently. We join with your families in wishing you the very best with your future plans.


The children of St.Guasachts school Bunlahy will stage their annual Christmas play in the school on Monday 20th at 7pm. All parents welcome to attend.


Congratulations to Ryan Perry, Ballygilchreist who celebrated a special birthday recently with a great party for family and friends in their home. We wish you many more celebrations Ryan.


Ballymore GAA club held their AGM in Killeen school on Friday night last and a good crowd attended. The chairman, Noel Boyle started the meeting with a minute silent prayer as a mark of respect to all who had berevements during the year. In his opening speech Noel spoke of the mixed fortunes the club had on the playing field and praised all for their great efforts in reaching the intermediate final and also in winning Division 2 final. He said that October was a very tough time for the club as we lost one of our upcoming players when young Glenn Brady lost his life in a traffic accident. He thanked all for their great loyalty to the Brady family and to the club at this time. Officers elected: Hon.President Paddy Higgins. Presidents:Pat Corcoran and James Reilly. Chairperson: Noel Boyle. Vice chairperson:Michael Flynn. Secretary:Derek Fahy. Joint treasurers:Mary Hynes and Carmel Brady. Pro:Sean Kilbride. We held the first of our mounthly draws on Sunday night Decembe 5th in McElvaney's and the following were the winners. 1000 euro James and Elisabeth Kearney, Toneywarden while 100euro was won by, Eugene Quaine, Tommy McGivney, James Boyle and John Corcoran. Next draw will be held in Creegans Bunlahy on this Sunday night December 19th with the third draw on January 2nd.

The voluntary management committee and staff of Lus Na Greine wish to thank all who gave so generously to the church gate collection in aid of the senior citizens party and also to all who donated spot prizes and gave of their time and talents to make sure the party was a great success.


It is hoped to have a youth Mass in St.Mary's in Granard on Christmas morning and all youngsters who play music are invited to make themselves available.
