Commercial vacancy rates in Longford is on the rise

The commercial vacancy rate in Longford stood at 15.1% in June 2023, according to the latest GeoDirectory Commercial Buildings Report.

This represents an increase of 0.7 percentage points (pp) compared to June 2022.

The report, prepared by EY, found that the national commercial vacancy rate stood at 14.1% in June.

The national commercial vacancy rate is the highest level recorded by GeoDirectory since it began reporting on the rates in 2013.

The GeoDirectory Commercial Buildings Report also examined the commercial vacancy rates among a sample of 80 towns across the country in June 2023.

Of the towns in Longford analysed, Edgeworthstown had the highest commercial vacancy rate in Q2 2023 at 29.2%, while Longford town had the lowest at 21.1%.

The report found that Ballybofey remained the town with the highest commercial vacancy rate at 29.9%.

Shannon and Edgeworthstown recorded the second and third highest commercial vacancy rates in the country at 29.4% and 29.2% respectively.
