Colmcille Ploughing Association are pleased to announce that this year's Colmcille Ploughing Festival and Heritage Day takes place on Sunday, August 20 on the lands of Mr Gearoid Mulligan on his lands at Aughakine, Aughnacliffe (N39CX67).
Parking fields are kindly provided by Patrick Gormley and Jimmy Reilly.
Colmcille Ploughing Association Chairperson Kevin Reilly said this year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever before with all classes of tractor, horse and loy competitions under the guidance and guidelines of the National Ploughing Association.
The Loy Association will also hold a demonstration workshop on the day to promote the art of loyalty digging.
Mr Reilly said the main sponsor for this year's event is CGH Solar Solutions. “Local man Norman Hall is one of the partners and we are very grateful for their support.”
There will be plenty of entertainment and attractions for all ages in Aughnacliffe on Sunday.
Mr Reilly remarked, “We have a large family Funfair on site supplied by Murray’s Funfair who promise to thrill and provide fun for young and old.”
There will be music on the day by Susan Lou, with a guest appearance by Bríd Shaughnessy and maybe more.
Various trade stands and sideshows on the day including Michelle Shaughnessy’s famous Highland Cattle, vintage car and tractor display, threshing, vintage ploughing and coping, Corbally mobile fun farm, bouncy castle and boxty making.
Mr Reilly concluded, “We hope to see you all there and let's hope for great weather and plenty to brilliant entertainment.”
