Mention the word PVs and immediately thoughts of charm, refinement and exclusivity springs to mind.

That aura is one which has seen the leading Longford venue carry out an ambitious six figure revamp of its accommodation offering which now sees it boast no fewer than 14 deluxe bedrooms.

All come equipped with stylishly finished en suite bathrooms, fully equipped with all of the furnishings one would expect from a leading establishment of its ilk.

Having taken the rappers of the finished product on May 1, it is the perfect setting for groups and private gatherings to set up base in for a night or weekend.

Those added attractions come as PVs gear up for this weekend’s eagerly awaited Summer Sesh.

Set over three action packed days starting this Friday, PV’s owners Barry and Lisa Lynam have teamed up with local musician Shane Kennedy to deliver an event which is fast becoming the talk of the county town.

Strings and Things kick proceedings off on Friday with a dance night featuring tracks from the 90s and naughties set for Saturday with the final night taking in a trad session and DJ set.

It’s all part of a PV’s led drive to showcase at least one main band a month in the Ballymahon Street establishment’s Red Room.

It comes only a matter of months after an extensive refurbishment of its Eden Nightclub took place.

Those efforts and investment in Longford’s local economy has not gone unnoticed either with the venue coming in for plaudits at 2023 Irish Restaurant Awards.

That saw Barry, Lisa and their 30 plus loyal band of staff being crowned the county's Best Gastro Pub.

It was an honour which was not simply just reward for many months of painstaking behind the scenes efforts, but also due recognition of PVs unrivalled standing in the wider hospitality sector.

Put simply, PVs is not just a name, it’s a lifestyle choice and an endorsement of an establishment that is quite simply on an altogether different level.

* PVs, 4 Ballymahon Street, Longford Town, Longford, Ireland is open Tuesday to Sunday.
