The DVDs are now on sale at ten euros each from Pat Newman Berney Mathews and Charles Harrison. It is a very good production thanks to Ben Murphy for his great attention to detail. A nice Christmas present for friends at home or abroad.


Longford Community Resources Ltd (LCRL) are delighted with the announcement in the recent budget that the rural transport programme will be continued in 2011 even with a slightly reduced budget. This is great news and indeed a relief for all the passengers who use the service ,many thanks to them and to all the stakeholders who have supported and indeed campaigned for the continuation of the programme throughout the year. Timetable: All routes for 2010 will be completed on Thursday 23rd December. Services for 2011 will resume on Tuesday 4th January. Longford Community Resources would like to wish all passengers and everyone who supports the rural transport programme a very happy and peaceful Christmas and good wishes for the New Year.


We offer sincere sympathy to John Rhatigan Corlea on the death of his brother Peter , Ballymahon who died after relatively short illness. His funeral took place after eleven o'clock mass on Sunday morning.


The following services will be held over the Christmas period in Ardagh group of parishes. All welcome. Sunday December 12th carol service in Tashinny Church at 11.30am; Sunday December 19th carol service in Kenagh Church at 11.30am; Christmas Eve. Holy communion in Tashinny church at 7pm. Holy communion in Kenagh church at 9pm.Christmas Day: Holy Communion in Ardagh Church at 10am, Holy Communion in Ballymahon Chuch at 11.30am; Sunday after Christmas (December 26th): Service of bible readings and carols in Ballymahon Church at 11.30am; Private Holy Communion for Christmas to the elderly and the housebound and to those in nursing homes will be administered during the two weeks prior to Christmas day by the rector.


Christmas Mass times: Christmas Eve Vigil at10pm; Christmas morning at 11am; Sunday morning at 11am. Penance service on Monday at 7.30pm. Please come in time and wait till the end – less than 30 minutes. We all need this quiet time at least twice a year. No other confessions. Adoration takes place from 8.30 to 10pm. Mass on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm.


Progressive twenty five winners in Saint Dominics Centre last Thursday night were Mary and Ivan eleven games they win 80 euro; Tom and Peter, Liz and Niall ten games 60 euro. Table prizes John and Larry, Mary and Mark they win twenty euro each. Raffle Jimmy Cahill, Barney Kenny, Pat Clavin, Bill Rogers, Betty Geraghty, Packie Feeney, Liam McHugh, John O'Hara, Tom Farrell, Freda Connaughton all get ten euro each. Our next game will take place on Thursday January 6th 2011. A very happy Christmas to all our players and supporters.


Congratulations to Conor Miley Derrylough who graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an honours bachelors degree in neuroscience. He is a son of Sean and Maureen Miley. Proud parents no doubt.
