Country stars Robert Mizzell and local favourite Mick Flavin will headline an eagerly awaited charity ‘Night with the Stars’ in the Longford Arms Hotel on Tuesday, June 16.
Proceeds from the night will go to the Elliott family benefit fund, following the death recently of William Elliott of Trillick-a-Temple, on the outskirts of Longford town.
Wlliam Elliott was a unique man and an inspiration to many as he never let blindness inhibit his short life. A loving young father, he is survived by his heartbroken children and wife, Geraldine (nee McCreanor). Their youngest child, infant daughter, Scarlet, was born only months before his death, whilst their other daughter, Teigan, made her First Holy Communion, the week following his death.
William passed away peacefully on April 8 at the family home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; sons, Joshua, Liam, Adam and Isaac, daughters Teigan and Scarlet; his sister Sharon; brother, Paul, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunt, uncle, nephews, relatives and friends.
Neighbours and friends have come together to organise the benefit night and local man, Tom Maguire of Stonepark, has assembled some of the great names from the Irish country music scene for the gala night. The popular Sheerin family band from Ballymahon will provide the music and support to all the artists on the night.
Other big names to look forward to include Simon Casey, Matt Leavy and Bernie Heaney along with all the great local names including Noel Cassidy, Paschal, Davy & Liz and Jimmy Whitten from Killashee.
Tickets for the night are only €10 with dancing from 8pm to midnight. Tickets will be on sale locally and anybody looking for tickets or willing to help out with tickets sales, can contact Tom Maguire on 086 811 8550.
