Longford Comhairle na nÓg are hosting an information seminar on Monday April 22nd. Aimed at parents and teachers, the seminar will deal with the subject of social media and cyber-bullying. Comhairle na nÓg hope that the seminar will raise awareness in relation to the subject and educate the people in Longford on how their children use the internet.

With technology such as smartphones and laptops, and social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, it has never been easier to communicate with others online, but these communications are not always positive.

Several issues will be discussed on the night, such as whether cyber-bullying is an issue for parents and teachers, how young people are using social media and how parents and teachers can have an understanding of it. The seminar takes place on Monday in the Temperance Hall at 8pm. For more information, contact Jim Maher, Regional Youth Officer on 086 9672920.
